FileXMon is a file deletion monitoring and protection utility for Windows NT based operating systems. Through the use of protection filters, you can specify what files in your system cannot be deleted, and you can also specify what processes can or cannot delete files. A most useful utility to have enabled while opening E-Mails and its attachments, and also while running programs downloaded from the internet as it is common for viruses and trojan programs to delete files. FileXMon will display the files (under protection) that have deletion attempts made on them along with the process that tried to delete it. The files that appear in the display are not deleted.
