Phish and EMusic join forces to offer digital downloads of a classic 1990 Phish Halloween concert. Given that we won't be doing a Halloween show this year, we hope that this Web event will be a fun way to keep the tradition alive, said Phish bassist Mike Gordon. The debut offering is a live recording of Phish's Halloween 1990 Concert at Colorado College. This performance journeys back to the early years of Phish's legendary Halloween tradition, prior to the development of the band's musical costume concept. In recent years, this tradition has included complete renditions of The Who's Quadrophenia (1995) and The Velvet Underground's Loaded (1998), among others. Since the late 1980s, Phish's Halloween shows have been acclaimed for their heightened energy and experimentation, and 1990's concert is a hallmark of the tradition in its formative years.
