TVicHW32 is a set of general-purpose device drivers for use with practically any programming language. They allow you to access and control hardware directly from within a Windows application without using the Windows DDK. Included in the package are a DLL for use with MSVC++ 5.0 and 6.0, Borland C++, and other compilers; a VCL component specifically for use with Borland Delphi 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 and C++ Builder 1.0 and 3.0; and an OCX for use with Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 and 6.0. TVicHW32 includes transparent support for Windows 95/98 and Windows NT 3.5 or higher, providing programmers with standard methods for real-time direct access to port I/O, memory mapped I/O, and hardware interrupts, without requiring you to write a custom virtual device driver for Windows 95/98 or a kernel-mode driver for Windows NT. This update adds application control over opening and closing the driver, simultaneous handling of multiple interrupts, keyboard hooks and scan-code messaging, improved install/uninstall support, and access to IDE HDDs hardware manufacturer information.TVicHW32 5.0 allows execution of privileged CPU instructions at the application level. The new RunRing0Function lets you access all ports directly with IN/OUT assembler instructions or with _inp() _outp() "C" functions, and gives you control over hardware interrupts and access to CPU special registers. Also new in this release is the ability to correctly handle "level sensitive" interrupts generated by PCI devices. Full documentation is now included, and available online as well. The unregistered version has a nag screen. The cost to register is $99.
