This ActiveX OCX can play any media file, including WAV, AVI, MIDI, and--depending on the drivers and codecs installed--MP3, MOV, MPG, ASX and other media files. It also includes extended MCI capabilities, internal volume control, and variable playback speed. Visual Basic 5.0 and 6.0 versions are available.Version 1.5.0 has fixed a bug involving lost handles opened by the control at runtime. (This bug was crashing the control after extended playbacks of multiple media files.) The MovieFullScreen function has been removed as well, because this function depended on the movie file and crashed the control upon returning from full-screen mode. Now, to play an MPEG or any other movie file, you need to resize the control to match the screen size, and the sample project will explain how to play movie files in full-screen mode with ease. The latest version also has new functions to add specific extensions to the predefined playback method; you can define an extension and the driver that will play it when the file is loaded in the control. Also added are media file previews in the ShowOpen dialog, and other minor bug fixes. Note: The unregistered version displays an About box during initialization. The cost to register is $73.
