This COM/ActiveX component implements the W3C Draft Recommendation for creating and verifying XML Signatures and can be used to digitally sign any document or Web content (HTML, XML, WORD, PDF, or any computer file). It utilizes X.509v3 PKI certificates which can be stored in a local Windows store, Smart Cards, or USB Token. Non-PKI password-based (HMAC) signatures are also supported. The Signature is built by encrypting the byte stream mathematically using the private key referred to by the PKI certificate. The final signature does not reveal the private key that was originally used to make the signature. The control can capture a live signature image using an external signature pad or mouse, or attach a file signature image with additional digitally binding information. It supports both client- and server-side signature creation and verification.
