"ShareMaster turns applications into secure shareware in as little as 4 steps! ShareMaster is an ActiveX control that can be used with multiple software titles and supports multiple versions to allow the developer to decide if a new version requires a new registration key or not. Developers set the number of days to allow shareware to remain active from the date the software is first run, along with all registration contact information to enable the customer to register the software using various methods. Customers can register during or after the shareware's trial period. This ShareMaster product makes every attempt to allow the registration key to be reusable (for customer satisfaction) if the registrant needs to re-install the software. "ShareMaster is not intended to prevent all registration key sharing (no re-usable key software protection can make this claim). However, multiple security measures are used to make it very difficult for registration key sharing to be successful for the same software title and nearly impossible across different versions/titles. Measures such as the use of a software key, a security code (used by the developer to keep the registration keys unique for updates and new versions), and many other checks and balances are in place to prevent tampering with the shareware in an effort to gain days or unlock the full version. If the user attempts to tamper with settings in an effort to gain days or unlock the software (through clock-manipulation, key sharing, etc.) the shareware not allow the software to be accessible beyond the number of days set by the developer and may even lock the user out. Even if a user is locked-out, they can still register to gain access to the full version of the software. ShareMaster is certified with Visual Basic, however, the ActiveX control will work on all platforms supporting OCX controls (VC++ & Access).
