TextPipe Pro is a text-processing utility that combines more than 80 conversion, translation, and filtering operations on multiple text or binary files. Update Web site text using search-and-replace, which supports Perl pattern matching, sounds-like matching, and edit-distance matching. Convert files from foreign computer systems between mainframe fixed-length formats and DOS, Macintosh, and Unix line-feed formats. Filters can encode or decode e-mail attachments, split or join files, add or remove lines or columns, remove blanks from the start or end of each line, remove blank lines, remove HTML tags, remove duplicate lines, add line numbers, sort, center- or right-justify text, word wrap, convert between ASCII and EBCDIC, OEM, and ANSI, remap ANSI or Unicode characters, extract e-mail addresses or URLs, expand or contract tabs, remove backspaces, remove binary characters, and generate word lists. Subfilters can identify text subsets, such as a range of lines or columns to be operated on without affecting any other text. This makes it easy to only perform a replacement in lines 1 to 10, or in columns 3 to 20. Other subfilters include lines that match or do not match a pattern, and search replacements (allowing replacement text to be capitalized, and so on). TextPipe can be fully automated via the command line or via a COM interface from languages such as Visual Basic, C++, and Delphi. It handles files larger than 2GB. XML, CSV, tab-delimited, or fixed-width database extracts can be generated using the database connection filter. User-defined filters can be written in VBScript or JScript. Full audit logs keep track of the filter lists run, files modified, and changes made. More than 100 example filter files are included, along with a comprehensive user manual. TextPipe fully supports language translations. Version 6.3 features a new wizard for finding text inside HTML tags such as Image, Body and Meta tags, between HTML tags such as Title, Table and Script tags and also between two arbitrary pieces of text. When found, the text can be edited, replaced, added to or removed. There is a new filter for selecting each line in turn and minor bug fixes.
